Word Wednesday.::209

Word Wednesday is posted every Wednesday. Each week I post a scripture that I've read that week that has spoken to me in a fresh way. I believe that if we read God's Word every day, He will give us at least one scripture every week that will impact us. Sharing Scripture with each other is like iron sharpening iron. Leave a comment and share a scripture that has impacted you this week.

Here's the scripture that stuck this week:

II Samuel 5:20 NKJV

"So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

God uses David and David gives God credit. It's a real simple equation that equals humility, worship and success. The proud self-destruct and the humble, God lifts up.

The Earth is Yours - Simple Version

I absolutely love the music of Gungor. Probably the best thing going, musically, in Christian music. They have a song from their Beautiful Things album called "The Earth is Yours". The instant I heard it, I knew it could be an amazing song for my church to sing. The issue with Gungor songs is that they're so well written, musically, and it can be a little difficult for your average church band to pull off. I feel very strongly that songs should be very accessible for people who come in to worship every week at church, so I decided to re-structure the song, change the key and make it real simple to play and sing. We did it this last week, so I thought I'd share it and show you a simple version of this great song. Comment your email, if you'd like the chord chart I made & let me know what you think of this version.

Here's the scripture that stuck this week:

I Samuel 16:7 NKJV

"But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees;[a] for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

People are really good at judging, but really bad at perceiving. God sees us in a truer sense than anyone else.

Great instruction with great motivation.

Word Wednesday.::206

Here's the scripture that stuck this week:

I Samuel 8:4-7 NKJV

Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”
But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.

Be careful what you ask for. This is still a problem, even with Christians...or, especially with Christians. Jesus wants to be King and reign in our hearts and yet we continually look for something less to worship or rely on. It's not always obvious as a king, but it always sits on the throne of our heart.
